Updated Data on the Quality of Life Index (QLI) of Lithuanian Municipalities

Updated municipalities Quality of Life Index data, including 2024 year, are now available on the website

In 2024, the QLI improved in 95% of municipalities.

 

The biggest rise in the QLI ranking was seen in Jonava District Municipality, which moved up from 22nd place in 2023 to 14th place in 2024. The TOP 5 municipalities by QLI remained the same, with only small changes in their rankings. However, Birštonas Municipality showed strong improvement and moved up to sixth place, closely to the top five.

 

Big improvements in overall QLI were also recorded in these municipalities:

  • Prienai District Municipality – up 11 places (from 40th in 2023 to 29th in 2024).
  • Molėtai District Municipality – up 11 places (from 41st to 30th).
  • Ignalina District Municipality – up 11 places (from 56th to 45th).
  • Skuodas District Municipality – up 9 places (from 58th to 49th).
  • Rokiškis District Municipality – up 8 places (from 34th to 26th).

 

The QLI is based on 40 indicators grouped into six areas:

  • Material living conditions;
  • Enterpreneurship of inhabitants and business competetiveness;
  • Health Services;
  • Educational services;
  • Demografy, civil and public activity;
  • Public infrastructure, quality of urban territories and safety.

 

The QLI data allow users to see overall results for each municipality, compare different areas and indicators, compare municipalities with each other, and follow changes over time from 2013 to 2024.

Systematized and detailed data on Lithuanian public finances are opened in the analysis part. The data includes information on budget execution and financial statement sets. Users are given an opportunity to analyze data, create tables, figures, derivatives, download and share data.
The Ministry of Finance is not responsible for user’s further use of the data and for decision making based on them.
